Once upon a time, there was a woman who grew to the age of 28 and struggled with everything in her life. She had trouble paying her bills, she had trouble keeping her life organized, and she couldn’t stay on task no matter how hard she tried. She would forget to eat even when she was hungry, and melting down became a way of life.

And then she was diagnosed with ADHD.

Suddenly, so many things about her life made sense.

It didn’t magically get easy, though, not with medication and not with coaching. She read books, and tried to apply different techniques to her life, but they didn’t always work.

As time went on, and she began to get more involved with disability rights advocacy, she began to question a lot of presuppositions that people have about things pertaining to disabilities.

She made a couple of posts on Tumblr, and some people encouraged her to start a non-Tumblr blog for this stuff.

So she did.

And that is the story of how this blog came to be.

It will not be updated very regularly. There will hopefully be guest posts (and soon a page explaining how that works).

But I intend to use this blog to explore the ideas I wrote about in the post that really sparked this, over on Tumblr. It is also the first post on this blog.
